Around the end of 2005 I was still living in Charlotte, NC. I had no idea that a little over a year later my life would take an unexpected turn, landing me in Charleroi, Belgium. Thinking I was in Charlotte for the long haul, I created Weird Charlotte, with the intention of maintaining it and adding to it over the years.
It’s stayed pretty much as I left it when I moved to Belgium in the spring of 2007, but I still think it holds up as an archive.
It got good reviews when it first came out: The Observer did a story in May 2006, and in March 2007 Creative Loafing did an issue of Urban Explorer’s Handbook on the same theme, with me on the cover and a story on me by Perry Tannenbaum.
Ok, ok . . .
